Pursuant to State Law, a manual tally of at least 1% of the precincts and 1% of the mail ballots, selected at random, is required as part of the post-Election Day canvass of the election.
The One Percent Manual Tally is a key procedure in the canvass of an election and takes place during the Official Canvass of the Vote. This process ensures the accuracy of the vote before the official results are certified.
The process, as are all components of the official canvass of results, is open to public observation. State Law provides 30 days to complete the canvass prior to certification of the election results.
