Becoming a student poll worker is a great opportunity to serve your community, learn more about the voting process, and understand the importance of voting.
What are the Requirements to become a Student Poll Worker?
- You are a high school student
- You are at least 16 years old
- You have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- You are a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident
- You have permission from your parent/guardian and the High School Administration

What are the Duties of a Student Poll Worker?
- Attend a training class that is required for all poll workers
- Arrange transportation to and from poll site
- Serve on Election Day at assigned polling location from 6 AM until all duties are completed (approximately 9:30 PM).
- Help set up voting equipment and open the polls by 7 AM.
- Facilitate voting by issuing ballots and checking off voters in the roster
- Help close the polls at 8 PM and count and prepare the ballots to be picked up.
